Plein Air Festival

The Plein Air Festival is an annual event hosted by the Idyllwild Art Alliance where artists from all over California come to create artwork of the Idyllwild area.
The phrase ‘en plein air’ means that an artist makes their artwork at the location with the scene in front of them. There are no photo references, only an artist’s eyes and their tools.
For my Plein Air painting, I chose to paint my favorite location in Idyllwild, Lake Fulmor. I love the serenity of this location, and I thought that the beautiful green trees looked especially bright on the day of the contest.
I am so excited to announce that I won third place in the contest!
It was a wonderful experience to see the varying styles of all the artists who participated and to see Idyllwild landmarks that I see everyday through new eyes.
